How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? Sloane- 5 years; Robbie- 3 years

What is your favorite food? Steak, mashed potatoes, and some sort of green

What is your favorite exercise? Deadlifts and squats (can't pick just one)

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them?

Sloane-- Pull-ups (I can do LOTS now), compete in a triathlon (finished 32 minutes ahead of my goal :)))), and new goal of a handstand. I accomplished these goals due to the competitive and challenging atmosphere that Jason and the Bodyshop team have created, along with dedication and persistence.

Robbie- attend a gym regularly and develop my overall strength (hey everybody come see how good I look). The newer goals included hitting the 300 lb mark for deadlifts and squats, which I accomplished last year.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health?

Did you see either of us in college? Not our greatest moments. Being fit is important not only for physical health but for mental health too. Maintaining this health allows us to tackle life's greatest challenges head on. We challenge each other to keep working and engaging in workouts and regular exercise.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X?

Sloane took her pants off in the middle of Resolution X, which cost her the title... Apparently, the pants were too hot and only shorts would get her through the competition. Other than that, I would say the best part is that we both do barbell club. This allows us to spend some quality time and see each other in action.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend?

"It's literally like my extended family. It's my second home."- Sloane Birnie
The camaraderie, relationships, and growth between the staff and clients is completely different than anywhere else. Whether you are crazy and come in at 5am or shoot in after work, you always feel like a valued member of the squad.

Is there anything you would like to mention? WE LOVEEEE Y'ALLLL!! XOXO

How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 4 years

What is your favorite food? Something not healthy but oh-so-yummy: my mom's fried chicken!

What is your favorite exercise? Bent over dumbbell rows

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? As a former fitness/figure competitor, I had muscle but lacked endurance and drive. A standard gym with weight machines just didn't cut it anymore. The training at Bodyshop Athletics X has given me the endurance, strength and motivation that I couldn't accomplish on my own.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? It's not easy to "rise and shine" for a 5:00am class. However, once I get in the gym with my fitness family (and we are VERY much like a family!), I am charged up for the day and ready to go. People always wonder how I get up and go to the gym that early. It's easy: it's my "me" time. It's the only hour of the day that I truly get to devote to myself. It's as much a mental motivation as it is physical! And as a single mom, my boys - my inspiration - need to know that taking care of yourself should be priority. I want to set a positive example for them.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? One of my most memorable moments? There are SO many! But I guess I have to say competing in the APEX Games in Greenville. Those competitions were far from easy, and they were nothing that I would have ever imagined myself trying before training at Bodyshop Athletics X. But going there with a group, cheering each other on, watching us achieve goals? It was priceless.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? There is one word I would use to describe my experience at Bodyshop Athletics X, and that is "FAMILY." Not only to we encourage each other on a physical level to achieve and crush our goals, but we support each other on a personal level, as well. I truly enjoy working out at BSX. There is nowhere else like it!

How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 8 months

What is your favorite food? I love thin, crisp veggie pizzas!

What is your favorite exercise? It's hard to choose just one....not burpees! I like doing candlesticks.

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? I have three young adults (children) and I am very involved with teenagers - I don't like being left out or behind! (Not to mention looking "hot" for my husband!) I wanted to lose some weight, and improve my fitness and stamina. During the school year, I am only able to work out at Bodyshop X 3 out of 5 weekdays because of other commitments but the variety and intensity of our workouts has definitely paid off. I want to get better at making time on Saturdays to get to the gym. I don't let my brain talk my body out of getting up and getting moving. If I can't make a workout, I don't let myself think that I've messed up and why bother. It's consistency that delivers the biggest rewards.

I have also tried to change what and when I eat. I am trying to find interesting, high protein, low sugar foods that keep me satisfied longer than junk food. Our family is very busy most nights, and supper time can get pretty late. I try really hard to be done with food by 8pm. It doesn't always work, but, again long term, consistency is key
.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? I love being active - our family loves athletics. We have built many life-long friendships though sports. It is something we enjoy doing as a family. I don't want to get to a point in my life where I have to be a spectator. I choose to stay in the game! Working out at Bodyshop X has made me stronger, leaner, and more agile. I move better than I did 8 months ago.

Working out gives me a real sense of accomplishment. Making it through one of Amy's classes makes me feel like there isn't much I won't be able to finish during the rest of my day. God blessed me with a healthy body. I want to thank Him for that by taking care of myself.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X?Also, hard to choose just one! But, ok - I don't mind laughing at myself. Alli was leading the class I was in and I was to do inchworms across the room and back. I couldn't remember what inchworms were and I got down on the floor and tried to do the "worm" (the dance move). i'm not very good at it, and I told Alli it was going to take a long time for me to get down and back across the room. She didn't laugh too hard, and told me how I needed to do it. I got really tickled with myself! But, nobody made me feel stupid. I like a good laugh!

After working out, we pray together. We strengthen our bodies, and our souls, as fit, active people who recognize the Lord that allows us the opportunities that we have!

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? Tough workouts! Great trainers! An exceptional value! Fabulous people! Welcoming!

Is there anything you would like to mention? I came into Bodyshop X, seeing folks who looked strong and able. I felt like - man, I've let myself go - I was a little intimidated - all self inflicted! Bodyshop X is a very welcoming place. It didn't take long, at all, for me to see that I could do my best and have a safe place to improve at my own pace. I want to go workout. I really miss it when I can't go. I love the ladies I work out with. All of the trainers and management work hard to lead us and to offer interesting, challenging workouts. If you have ever had any interest in improving your fitness, I would encourage you to give Bodyshop X a try.

How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 1 year

What is your favorite food? Omni Viands Street Tacos

What is your favorite exercise? Good Mornings

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? I walked into Bodyshop X 1 year ago with one goal in mind, "Consistency". I had many areas in my life where it seemed this word defeated me. Trying to change so many things at once can become overwhelming, so I decided to choose one area to begin this journey. I chose exercise because I knew that would bring energy, stress relief, and healthier eating habits. One year ago I was not exercising at all, and now I exercise 5 days per week. It has become a part of my life and no longer a box to check for the day. Now everyday is a goal within myself to hold that plank longer than the last time, or pick up the speed on a treadmill. At Bodyshop X we call that a PR (Personal Record), and I love that this staff helps me break my own PR's each and everyday!

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? As women, we tend to think that time for ourselves is being selfish. Certainly we should be doing so many other things that need to be done, right? Working out is time for me to better myself, and to leave daily stress at the door. I have more energy for my family and am able to instill healthy habits within them as well.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? My most memorable moment revolves around the infamous QUAD. This exercise involves the completion of 25 push ups, 25 sit ups, 25 burpees, and 25 hurdle jumps 2 times through under 10 minutes. The first time through, I did not even make it halfway through the second round when the 10 minute mark came. A few months later I tried again. I still did not make it all the way through, but certainly got further along that time. Then about a month ago, I not only finished all of it, but did it in 8 minutes and 15 seconds. How overjoyed I was to come so far. I remember Matt, Jason and Alli all cheering me on as I finished strong that day! I realized that day that becoming healthier is not something that happens in a quick 7 day fix. It happens over time as I keep deciding each day to walk into these doors.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? I walked into Bodyshop X receiving encouragement and accountability. They are not about you being at a certain level when you walk through the door. They are just glad that you are there. Matt took the time to begin with me right where I was instead of trying to fit me within a certain mold. I learned technique and gained confidence as well as perseverance to later join group classes. Lindsay pushes me each and every week to go beyond where I think I should be and trust her guidance. Both of these awesome trainers are right every time:-) Everyone has that first day when they walk into the gym and are self-conscious, scared and embarrassed. I would encourage anyone to take that first step. If I am there, you will certainly receive nothing less than God's grace, love and encouragement because he bestows that upon me each and everyday through this awesome staff!
