Mobility

2016-11-10 11.13.14.jpg
The human body is designed to move. Mobility is essential to our lives and without it our body begins to deteriorate. On the other hand, over use or overworking certain body parts may cause damage and lesson mobility due to pain and tightness. Our muscles lose strength over time if they are not used, but that also is true for our joints if we do not put them through their complete range of motion (ROM) regularly.
Let’s be real, no one wants to be in pain. We all would like to wake up in the morning and be able to get out of bed and do all of our daily chores and fun activities with ease. With inactivity, some of us start to notice these tasks are getting more difficult. Range of motion is essential for our bodies as we age and subject it through rigorous tasks of day to day activities.
It’s important to keep moving. It’s also important to rest and nourish your body properly. Good eating habits, drinking lots of water, and stretching before and after any vigorous activity will help maintain your mobility. Once you realize that you are losing ROM and are experiencing pain the next step that I recommend is scheduling a session with a Professional Licensed Massage Therapist to discuss an individualized plan that will help manage and possibly reverse the pain improving your mobility and way of life.
Massage therapy has been known to decrease stiffness and tightness that comes from both the lack of movement as well as the overuse. A well trained and experienced massage therapist will design an individualized plan that will focus on you, as well as teach you self-care techniques to continue in between appointments maximizing the benefits of massage. Call now to start your journey to a better way of life.
