How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 8 months

What is your favorite food? There can't be just one! Some of my favorites are watermelon, sushi, and (yikes) french fries.

What is your favorite exercise? Kettlebell Swings

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? Fit by 40! Well, I should have started before January given that I turn 40 in November. However, I have definitely made progress since starting at BodyShop. I'd gained lots of weight over the past 12 years. I've lost some weight, and I can definitely see more muscle definition. I'm stronger, and I feel better!

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? As a working mom and wife, I am always busy. I've made excuses for so long about why working out during the school year just doesn't fit in my schedule. I am so thankful that I finally decided to make a change. I love that my children see that I am making efforts to be physically healthy. The Bodyshop family makes exercise fun...even at 5:00 in the morning! I enjoy the results that I can see and feel, and I know that consistency is crucial. I look forward to continued weight loss and feeling stronger and better!

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? My favorite moments at Bodyshop include all the times that I am able to do something that I previously couldn't do! Of course, it's the laughs and all of the encouragement that make it fun.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? Bodyshop is a place where fellowship and training merge to keep me motivated! I've never felt intimidated or worried about what I couldn't do. I love being in an environment where others push to do as much as they can while encouraging others to give their best. Bodyshop is what works for me, and I love finishing our workouts in a time of prayer. Getting out of bed for 5 am workouts is tough for me, but it's always worth it once I walk in the door of Bodyshop!

Patti - It is important to me to work out so that as I age I continue to be able to be flexible, balanced and active.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? Jay- The day my head actually was able to reach the bench in the bench press. Patti - The day I did burpees for the first time. It was not so pretty but I did it. I did not know what a burpee was before going to Bodyshop Athletics X. Oh, and doing a deadlift of , I think 165lbs was the last number I hit.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? Jay and Patti - The staff and people at the Bodyshop Athletics X are what makes this gym so wonderful. It is a family friendly gym. It is fun seeing all the kids working out and being taught early in being strong and healthy. The staff and trainers are first class and very knowledgeable. It is a great place to go!

Is there anything you would like to mention? If anyone is hesitant to walk into a gym for fear of being intimidated, there is no worry of this at Bodyshop Athletics X gym. Name: Sloane and Robbie Bernie

Birth Date: November 10, 1988

How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? Sloane- 5 years; Robbie- 3 years

What is your favorite food? Steak, mashed potatoes, and some sort of green

What is your favorite exercise? Deadlifts and squats (can't pick just one)

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them?

Sloane-- Pull-ups (I can do LOTS now), compete in a triathlon (finished 32 minutes ahead of my goal :)))), and new goal of a handstand. I accomplished these goals due to the competitive and challenging atmosphere that Jason and the Bodyshop team have created, along with dedication and persistence.

Robbie- attend a gym regularly and develop my overall strength (hey everybody come see how good I look). The newer goals included hitting the 300 lb mark for deadlifts and squats, which I accomplished last year.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health?

Did you see either of us in college? Not our greatest moments. Being fit is important not only for physical health but for mental health too. Maintaining this health allows us to tackle life's greatest challenges head on. We challenge each other to keep working and engaging in workouts and regular exercise.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X?

Sloane took her pants off in the middle of Resolution X, which cost her the title... Apparently, the pants were too hot and only shorts would get her through the competition. Other than that, I would say the best part is that we both do barbell club. This allows us to spend some quality time and see each other in action.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend?

"It's literally like my extended family. It's my second home."- Sloane Birnie
The camaraderie, relationships, and growth between the staff and clients is completely different than anywhere else. Whether you are crazy and come in at 5am or shoot in after work, you always feel like a valued member of the squad.

Is there anything you would like to mention? WE LOVEEEE Y'ALLLL!! XOXO

January Client of the Month

Name: Becky Baker

Birth Date: August 2, 1970

How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 4 years

What is your favorite food? Something not healthy but oh-so-yummy: my mom's fried chicken!

What is your favorite exercise? Bent over dumbbell rows

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? As a former fitness/figure competitor, I had muscle but lacked endurance and drive. A standard gym with weight machines just didn't cut it anymore. The training at Bodyshop Athletics X has given me the endurance, strength and motivation that I couldn't accomplish on my own.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? It's not easy to "rise and shine" for a 5:00am class. However, once I get in the gym with my fitness family (and we are VERY much like a family!), I am charged up for the day and ready to go. People always wonder how I get up and go to the gym that early. It's easy: it's my "me" time. It's the only hour of the day that I truly get to devote to myself. It's as much a mental motivation as it is physical! And as a single mom, my boys - my inspiration - need to know that taking care of yourself should be priority. I want to set a positive example for them.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? One of my most memorable moments? There are SO many! But I guess I have to say competing in the APEX Games in Greenville. Those competitions were far from easy, and they were nothing that I would have ever imagined myself trying before training at Bodyshop Athletics X. But going there with a group, cheering each other on, watching us achieve goals? It was priceless.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? There is one word I would use to describe my experience at Bodyshop Athletics X, and that is "FAMILY." Not only to we encourage each other on a physical level to achieve and crush our goals, but we support each other on a personal level, as well. I truly enjoy working out at BSX. There is nowhere else like it!
